It’s a fun thought experiment to look at a particular slice of your day-to-day job as a software dev and spin out all the layers and tangential things you need to know to make sense of that thing and do that thing.

Some fun ones to spin out would be:
- reviewing a pull request
- tracking down a bug in production
- “shipping” a feature

No one wants to make ‘ugly’ art, or write a ‘bad’ document. But struggling and making mistakes is an important part of developing skills and – increasingly important – finding your own voice.
