Water-use for data centers versus almonds

"2.5 billion gallons" sounds like a lot but is about 2 tenths of 1% of the amount of water (approx 5 million acre-feet per year) used to grow almonds just in California.
This is in response to a report from Amazon that their global data-center operations withdrew 2.5 billion gallons of water in 2025.
